Welcome, Incense Explorer!

When I was first discovering incense, I was totally lost. In fact, prior to taking an interest in the smoky aromas of smoldering raw plants, I thought I hated the stuff. I had no idea, those super smelly “air freshener” sticks that you can pick up for $2 at the gas station, were only scratching the surface of what incense really is.

I spent years experimenting and researching; learning by trial and error what I liked and didn’t. What was natural and what wasn’t. Different styles of incense by region. Using incense sustainably.

And I’m still learning every day.

Incense has a rich and fragrant history around the world. Used for communion with deities, medicine, and an indulgent symbol of wealth, incense is truly fascinating. But the unfortunate reality is, Americans as a whole are pretty far removed from incense traditions of the Far East.

When I was first starting out, I wished there was someone who could take me by the hand, and teach me everything I didn’t know I didn’t know about incense.

The good news is, now I, along with the help of some brilliant incense and olfactory experts, can be that resource for you.

Thank you for accompanying me on this journey!
